Canned Goods
Hodge Building
Chairman: Barbara Searles (603) 253-9453
- All exhibitors must have an exhibitor’s number which can be obtained in several ways: Friday at the Hodge building between 3 & 8 pm, the fair office (284-7062 or e-mail “”sfa@ttlc.net, be sure to include your complete mailing address with zip code. Late entries will not be accepted. Entries must be picked up after 5:00 pm and before 6:30 pm on Monday. Vehicles will not be allowed on the grounds until after 6:00 PM.
- Entries may be named but need simple labels and lid covers. The owner’s name should not be visible. Names and exhibitor numbers, assigned to the entry must be written on the BOTTOM of each jar. Each jar must have a label ONLY stating the category number, product and processing date written on the front of jar and also written on the “Entry Hall Entry Form” which can be obtained on this web site under “entry forms”. Listing ingredients is optional.
- Canned goods are not opened and are judged entirely on appearance of jar and contents. Color, uniformity, packing, bail height, etc. as stated in the Ball Blue Book. Rings are removed and lids inspected, so excessive decorations hinder judging. Please leave rings on the lids and make sure that all labels are securely attached. Jars should be clean and neat. All canned goods must be current year’s canning. Old style flip lids with rubber ring seals are not acceptable and will be automatically disqualified.
- Please consider bringing an extra jar of your best canned goods for the separate Jarden Canned Goods competition. (see separate rules ahead)
- Exhibitors with multiple entries are encouraged to stop at the Fair Office and pick up your exhibitor tags before the fair, saving time on the night of drop off, as each jar needs its own tag. If you are unable to get your tags ahead of time, they will be available at the canned goods department on Friday between 3pm and 8pm.
Premiums (unless otherwise noted) 1st $4.00 2nd: $3.00 3rd: $2.00 Youth entries (under age 14) will be judged on individual merit. Best jar of:
