Held in the Smith-Building
Exhibit hall entries will be limited to projects of Carroll County 4-H Club members. 4-H members must be enrolled in the project at the 4-H office for the current project year. All exhibits will be set up between 3:00 and 6:00 pm on Friday, October 5, 2012. All exhibits must remain in place until 5:00 pm, but no later than 6:30 pm on Monday, October 8, 2012, vehicles will not be allowed on the grounds until 6:00 pm. Unless otherwise noted htere is a limit of 3 items of the same metthod or style. Duplicate items must be entered as a set. i.e. matched pillows or turned plates. Any articles made from pre-fabricated kits must be suitable and appropriate for the member’s age and skill level. Suitability will be left to the judges’ discretion.
Member's project work will receive premiums and ribbons according to the class and level it is correctly entered in. Judges have the right to change levels if they feel it is appropriate, after discussion with the Extension Educator. More difficult and advanced project work should be entered in a higher level and will receive a higher premium. A less difficult or beginning project should be entered in Level 1. Questions pertaining to entries should be directed to the County 4-H Educator. Projects requiring special expertise for judging must be identified, and the Extension office must be notified at least two weeks prior to the fair (i.e. electronics, computer/technology projects, or a specialty livestock project). No live animals in the 4-H exhibit hall.
Cloverbud projects are not judged. Each Cloverbud member (4-H ages 5-7) may enter one project in each project area. Cloverbuds will receive a participation premium of $.50 per entry and a green Cloverbud ribbon.

CLASS D - CHILD CARE AND BABY SITTING
Level 1 Beginner - picture and/or story scrapbook for small children or safe homemade toy (indicate age of child); or written report or poster on some aspect of child care development and safety.

Level 2 Intermediate - report, story or poster of child development observations of one age level or ways and means of handling emergency situations; or diapering and feeding a baby; or a collection of 2 or more homemade toys for two different age levels (indicate ages of children). $2.25 $1.75 $1.25
Level 3 Advanced - baby sitters bag or box with a collection of homemade toys or playthings for at least 3 different ages (indicate age level of each on a 3 x 5 card); or advanced report, poster; or display of related careers; or emergencies and safety; or child development of three or more age levels. $3.25 $2.75 $2.00
CLASS E - TEXTILES & CLOTHING - only one of each article listed may be exhibited. Items exhibited in Fashion Revue will receive the same score and not be re-judged unless improvements have been made. Entries must be marked re-judge. Pattern & directions must be included with clothing.
Level 1 Beginners - Apron, pincushion, laundry bag, tote bag, pot holders, place mats, slippers, stuffed animals, knapsack, elastic waistband skirts, pants, or shorts. $1.75 $1.50 $1.25
Level 2 Intermediates - Blouse or simple dress, jumper, vest, ponchos, pajamas, bathrobe, unlined jacket or blazer slacks, skirts, or shorts fitted with waistband; sports outfits-jogging, tennis, swimsuits, long-sleeved shirt, caftan. Ten mounted samples of garment care labels and 10 mounted and identified samples of different clothing fabrics. $2.75 $2.25 $1.75
Level 3 Advanced - (2 piece outfits will be judged as one)Includes specialty fabrics such as stretch jersey, lightweight or sheer fabrics, velours, slippery fabrics, heavy wool, velvet, natural & synthetic fur, leather, suede, vinyl, nylon, etc. Items -suits, coats, denim outfits, evening wear, lined jackets, lined blazers, lined cape. Notebook showing coordinated wardrobe with mounted collection of 10 or more different fibers in fabric samples with information on their characteristics and care. $3.75 $2.75 $1.75
CLASS F - COLLECTIONS - (entomology, stamps, geology, coins, etc.) Only current year's collection may be exhibited, properly mounted, labeled and identified.

Level 1 - Electricity - circuit board, repaired lamp, electric game, trouble light, toy electric motor, test lamp. Wood Sciences - wooden article made with hand tools. Rocketry - skill level 1 and 2 rockets, homemade launch system. $1.75 $1.50 $1.00
Level 2 - Electricity - poster of wiring diagram of your house, study lamp, display of disassembled electric motor, labeled. Wood Sciences - wooden article made with use of simple power tools. Rocketry - skill level 3 and 4 rockets. $2.75 $2.25 $1.75

CLASS H - CRAFTS Gimp, weaving, leather, metal, copper enameling, shell craft, ceramics, pottery, basketry, decoupage, candle making, Christmas crafts, resealing, posters, other creative crafts.

CLASS L - FOOD AND NUTRITION - All items should be exhibited with recipe card and source of recipe. They must be on a paper plate and covered with clear plastic. Any of the recipes featured in the 4-H project books or other recipes using skills learned in their project are eligible for exhibition. Unless otherwise noted, 4 servings are required.
Level 1 - Biscuits, one home packed lunch box with daily menu, poster or scrapbook showing food pyramid or a balanced menu, cookies, coffee cake. $1.50 $1.25 $1.00
Level 2 - Cornbread, muffins, rolled biscuits, brownies, dessert dish, 1 loaf quick bread. Poster or scrapbook on calories and fitness or food labeling information. $2.25 $1.75 $1.25
Level 3 - Carrot raisin brownies, poster or scrapbook on setting a table herbs and uses, fitness plan. 1 loaf yeast bread, yeast rolls, specialty bread, yeast coffee cake, pastry or main dish.$3.25 $2.75 $2.25
CLASS M - FOOD PRESERVATION - Pint jars preferred, members may enter either Parent-Member or Members Own Canning. Exhibits, entry blanks and jars must be labeled whether pressure cooker or water bath method used. All entries must be processed. All ingredients must be listed on jar. Dome lid jars must be used. Rings must be removed. No bale jars allowed.
Level 1 - Parent-Member - collection of 3 jars with 3 different kinds of vegetables, fruits, pickles, relishes, jams or jellies, Limited - 2 entries - 6 jars all different. $1.50 $1.25 $1.00
Level 2 - Members Own Canning (MOC) 1 jar exhibits of vegetables, greens, fruit, meat, pickles, relish, jam, jelly, marmalade, preserve or conserve. Limited to 3 entries. These are done exclusively by a single member. $2.75 $2.25 $1.75
Level 3 - Members Own Canning – collection of 5 jars with different kinds of vegetables, fruits, pickles, relishes, jams or jellies. These must be done exclusively by the member. Limit - 3 entries, 15 jars, all different. $3.25 $2.25 $1.75
CLASS N—FORESTRY. Only current year may be exhibited; properly mounted labeled and identified.
Level 1: 10 or more items per collection, or a single sided wreath. $1.75 $1.50 $1.25

CLASS 0 - GARDEN CROPS - VEGETABLES - variety must be listed on entry tag and entry blank. Limit - one entry of any species, i.e. only one plate of tomatoes, one of carrots, one of cucumbers, etc., in the quantity listed below: (Exhibit on a paper plate with a tag securely attached.)
Level I - Individual Garden Varieties - 1-turnip, pumpkin, winter squash, watermelon, cabbage with clean leaves, head lettuce, eggplant, muskmelon, sunflower, cauliflower. 2-celery stalks, citron, cucumber, broccoli, summer squash (no more than 12 inches long) 3-peppers, 5-artichokes, beets, carrots, tomatoes, onions, parsnips, potatoes, sweet, pop or ornamental corn. 10-string and shell beans, peas in pods, 1 pint - dried string, shell or soy beans, shelled peas) $1.75 $1.25 $1.00
Level 2 - Herbs - 5 or more varieties, dried or fresh., labeled. $2.00 $1.75 $1.50
Level 3 - Garden Collection - a display of 5 or more species of vegetables in the amounts given above. Display in a basket or box - maximum (15" x 18") with low front and no commercial advertising visible. Separate specimens are needed for the collection. CLASS P -HOME IMPROVEMENT - Interior Design. An accessory for the home, accompanied with before and after picture of work done, (or placement of accessory in the home) mounted on poster board.

CLASS Q - HORTICULTURE AND FLOWER GARDENING
Level I - Outdoor Flowers- 3 specimens of each variety per entry. Landscaping. House Plants -1 or more items, each to have a different culture requirement or they will be judged as a collection. Indoor Bulbs, Dish Gardens and Terrariums containing compatible plants. $1.75 $1.50 $1.25
Level 2 - Outdoor Flowers -Starting annuals indoors or dividing perennials, report poster or display. Indoor Flowers Flower Arrangements. $2.00 $1.75 $1.25

CLASS R - MAPLE SYRUP -½ pint of maple syrup in a clear glass bottle; ¼ pound of maple sugar candy. Syrup grade to be identified on tag. Candy needs to include recipe card and be displayed on a paper plate and covered with a clear plastic. CLASS S - NEEDLE ARTS Embroidery, stitchery, quilting, etc…

Div. 1 Club Group Exhibit - club having five or more members or 50 percent of members exhibiting may enter an exhibit in Agriculture, Home Economics and General Projects.
